Zenitel has introduced Zenitel Connect Essential, an audio management platform aimed at smaller security and critical-communication installations. The system is designed for deployments with up to 16 devices and does not require platform licensing fees, according to the company.
The platform brings intercoms and IP speakers into a unified architecture that Zenitel previously positioned for larger enterprise installations. For integrators working on smaller facilities, that addresses a common deployment issue: voice communication, entrance control and public-address equipment can otherwise operate on separate, disconnected networks.
A smaller deployment tier
Zenitel Connect Essential uses the same cybersecurity framework, user interface and integration standards as the company’s enterprise-tier Zenitel Connect Pro. Zenitel said facilities can move to the Pro tier through license upgrades if their requirements expand, allowing the initial deployment to remain within the Essential platform while providing a defined route to a larger system.
The product is intended to support both operators and systems integrators managing communications and security functions. Its stated scope includes the integration of intercoms and IP speakers, rather than treating those devices as isolated components. That architecture places entrance communication and public-address functions within the same management environment as the rest of the supported audio system.
| Product | Deployment | Platform and integration | Licensing and options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zenitel Connect Essential | Installations with up to 16 devices | Intercom and IP speaker management; same cybersecurity framework, user interface and integration standards as Zenitel Connect Pro | No platform licensing fees; upgrade path to Zenitel Connect Pro; optional cloud tools under a separate service license |
Deployment and remote management
Zenitel Connect Essential can run on the company’s ICX-510 intelligent communication gateway or inside a virtual machine environment. Those options give integrators a choice between deploying the software on Zenitel hardware or placing it within an existing virtualized infrastructure, as described by the company.
Operators and systems integrators can also add cloud-based tools for remote monitoring and maintenance. The cloud capability is optional and requires a separate service license; it is not included as part of the platform’s stated no-fee licensing structure. That distinction is relevant when defining the recurring-service portion of a small-facility security or communications installation.
- Supports installations with up to 16 devices.
- Unifies Zenitel intercoms and IP speakers in one management architecture.
- Runs on the ICX-510 gateway or in a virtual machine environment.
- Provides an upgrade path to Zenitel Connect Pro as site requirements grow.
- Optional cloud remote monitoring and maintenance require a separate service license.
Zenitel’s launch places the Essential platform below Connect Pro for facilities that need coordinated intercom and IP audio management without beginning with an enterprise-tier deployment. The company has not published a price or a specific availability date in the announcement. Its published licensing distinction is that the core platform carries no platform licensing fees, while optional cloud-based remote services are licensed separately.
