Jamo has launched the HYG 5, an all-in-one Wi-Fi speaker that combines loudspeakers, amplification and network streaming in a single enclosure. The product is positioned as the company’s new flagship in its portable speaker category and is available in three color options for €399.

The HYG 5 uses two 2.5-inch full-range drivers angled upward and outward, alongside a 4-inch downward-firing woofer. Jamo has built the amplifier and streamer into the same unit, creating a configuration that can accept network audio without requiring a separate source component or amplifier.

Streaming and source connections

The speaker supports several streaming services and platforms used in connected-audio systems. Its listed options include Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and Spotify Connect, while TuneIn provides access to internet radio. The HYG 5 also supports AirPlay 2 and Google Cast, with Bluetooth 5.0 available for direct wireless connections.

Jamo has also included a dedicated stereo RCA line input. That connection allows an external source such as a CD player or cassette deck to feed the speaker, giving the HYG 5 a wired source path in addition to its network and Bluetooth capabilities. Maximum streaming quality is specified as 24-bit/96kHz.

Ambient lighting is integrated into the enclosure

The HYG 5 includes an ambient light ring that responds automatically to the lighting conditions in the room. Users can also adjust the lighting manually through the accompanying app or turn the feature off. The lighting system adds a configurable visual element without changing the speaker’s audio-source functionality.

For residential audio deployments, the product’s feature set places several connection methods in one enclosure: network playback for streaming services, platform support through AirPlay 2 and Google Cast, Bluetooth for local wireless playback, and RCA for legacy equipment. The combination also gives the speaker a role in rooms where a separate streamer and amplifier are not part of the system design.

  • Network audio: Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect and TuneIn
  • Platform compatibility: AirPlay 2 and Google Cast
  • Local and legacy sources: Bluetooth 5.0 and stereo RCA input
  • Room feature: Automatic or manually controlled ambient light ring

Jamo lists the HYG 5 at €399. The announcement identifies the speaker as available in three color options, but does not provide additional dealer-channel, regional distribution or US availability details.
