ASCENDO Immersive Audio has introduced THE MULE 10 Kick Woofer, a low-frequency module aimed at custom home theaters, high-performance stereo systems and installations where bass needs to be placed close to the listening position. The company positions the product differently from a conventional subwoofer, emphasizing upper-bass impact and physical response rather than only the lowest frequencies.
The announcement follows ASCENDO’s release of its Panoramic Surface On-Wall at the 2026 CEDIA Expo. According to the company, THE MULE 10 is intended to complement deep-bass systems, including ASCENDO infrasubs and traditional subwoofers, by adding a separate source for the faster, more directional portion of the bass range.
Designed for concealed or close-range placement
THE MULE 10 uses a 10-inch platform with a carbon-composite cone described by ASCENDO as both lightweight and rigid. A 4.5-inch voice coil drives the assembly, while the company rates the structure for 2,500 watts and lists 5 kW peak power capability. The driver is mounted in a cast frame intended to maintain stability during high-dynamic playback.
The enclosure is less than 4 inches deep and uses solid aluminum plates on its front and rear surfaces. Internal bracing is included, along with a magnetic black stretch-fabric grille. ASCENDO says the dimensions allow the unit to fit between standard 16-inch studs, giving integrators an option for concealed wall placement rather than a freestanding cabinet.

Mounting flexibility for integrators
ASCENDO includes adjustable brackets that can be fitted to the top or sides of the enclosure and rotated to accommodate different orientations. The company also lists keyhole wall hangers for on-wall installations. That combination gives dealers several placement approaches across new construction and retrofit projects, although the announcement does not state pricing or a specific availability date.
- Brackets can be mounted on the top or sides and rotated for different orientations.
- The design supports in-wall and in-ceiling installation, as well as on-wall placement.
- The enclosure is intended to fit between standard 16-inch studs.
- A magnetic black stretch-fabric grille is supplied for a discreet finish.
ASCENDO identifies several intended system applications: extending the kick-bass output of speakers that are deliberately rolled off below approximately 80 Hz; placing low-frequency sources near the listening position; adding bass sources to systems using Dirac Live ART; and supporting home cinema and high-performance stereo designs.
“Some of the most convincing bass isn’t necessarily the lowest bass, but the fast, physical hit that makes drums, dynamics, and transients feel real,” said Geoffrey Heinzel, ASCENDO co-managing partner.
Heinzel said customers wanted a dedicated kick-bass solution that could add punch and presence without exciting the lowest room modes. ASCENDO’s stated approach separates that role from the deep-bass duties handled by its infrasubs and conventional subwoofers, giving integrators another component to consider when system design calls for multiple low-frequency locations.
ASCENDO has introduced THE MULE 10 as a product for the professional home AV market. The announcement provides the installation and performance specifications above but does not publish an MSRP, dealer availability information or a shipping date.
