WavKong launches V2700 long-range Wi-Fi 6 router after Kickstarter fulfillment

WavKong has commercially launched its V2700 long-range Wi-Fi 6 router, which uses the company’s RPU processing technology to target broad coverage with fewer wireless nodes.

WavKong has announced the commercial launch of its V2700 long-range Wi-Fi 6 router, following what the company described as the successful fulfillment of all Kickstarter orders. The product is positioned around a signal-first approach to whole-home coverage: strengthen the wireless connection at the router, then use the fewest access points or mesh nodes needed for the property.

That positioning addresses a recurring network-design issue in larger or more complex homes. A fast broadband subscription does not guarantee usable connectivity at the edge of a property, where a garden, garage, outbuilding or distant bedroom may still experience unreliable service. WavKong said its objective is to improve that final wireless link rather than relying on a greater number of mesh points.

Coverage claim comes from company testing

WavKong said the V2700 delivered up to 15,000 square feet of combined indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi coverage in company testing at a single-story, wood-frame residence in California. The company also said it tested the router in three-story wood-frame homes in other U.S. states, but did not provide additional coverage results for those tests.

The 15,000-square-foot figure is therefore a manufacturer claim tied to a particular test environment, not a general installation guarantee. Building materials, floor plans, property shape, interference and the position of the router can all affect the practical result of a wireless deployment. For integrators, the stated coverage figure is best treated as a reference point for site assessment rather than a substitute for network planning.

“Improve the wireless signal at its source, then use the fewest nodes necessary to deliver reliable coverage across even the largest or most complex homes.”

WavKong said the V2700 was developed over six years and incorporates the company’s proprietary RPU (Radio Processing Unit) chip. According to the company, the chip brings base-station-grade digital signal processing to home Wi-Fi. No additional technical specifications, pricing or dealer-channel terms were included in the launch information.

Mesh remains part of the design

The product is not presented as a replacement for mesh networking in every installation. WavKong said one V2700 may be sufficient in suitable homes, while properties requiring additional coverage can use two V2700 units together in a mesh network. The company’s stated goal is to reduce the number of nodes needed, not to eliminate multi-node deployments.

  • Product: WavKong V2700 long-range Wi-Fi 6 router
  • Processing technology: Proprietary RPU (Radio Processing Unit) chip
  • Claimed coverage: Up to 15,000 square feet indoors and outdoors in a company test
  • Multi-unit operation: Two V2700 routers can work together in a mesh network
  • Status: Commercial launch announced after Kickstarter order fulfillment

For custom networking work, the announcement centers on deployment simplicity: fewer wireless nodes can mean fewer placement decisions and less coordination of radio channels, backhaul and roaming. Those benefits remain dependent on the structure and layout of each home. WavKong’s launch establishes the V2700 as a commercially launched Wi-Fi 6 option, while the company’s coverage claims still need to be evaluated against the conditions of individual installations.
