Wipro has agreed to acquire Harman Connected Services, including Harman’s Digital Transformation Solutions business and its subsidiaries, from Samsung’s Harman International for approximately $375 million (INR 3,125 crore). The transaction will transfer the business’s assets, client contracts and approximately 5,600 employees to Wipro, subject to closing.
Business to join Wipro’s engineering organization
The deal covers a full 100 percent stake in Harman Connected Services. The employee base is primarily located in India, with additional personnel across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Following completion, the business will become part of Wipro’s Engineering Global Business Line.
Wipro said the integration will place the Digital Transformation Solutions operation alongside its AI, consulting and specialist delivery capabilities. The acquired organization will therefore be incorporated into an existing engineering and services structure rather than continuing as a separate Harman business, according to the transaction details.
“Upon closing, DTS will be integrated into Wipro’s Engineering Global Business Line, joining Wipro’s AI, consulting, and specialist delivery model.”
Strategic agreement accompanies acquisition
In addition to the acquisition, Wipro will enter a multi-year strategic agreement with Harman and Samsung. The agreement is intended to establish Wipro as a transformation partner for key vertical clients, alongside the transfer of Harman Connected Services and the Digital Transformation Solutions operation.
The combined transaction includes several elements relevant to companies that work across connected technology and engineering services:
- Transaction value: approximately $375 million, or INR 3,125 crore
- Ownership transferred: 100 percent of Harman Connected Services, including DTS Inc. and its subsidiaries
- People included: approximately 5,600 employees across India, the Americas, Europe and Asia
- Post-closing structure: integration into Wipro’s Engineering Global Business Line
- Related agreement: a multi-year strategic arrangement involving Wipro, Harman and Samsung
Closing remains the next step
The announcement describes the integration and the strategic agreement in the context of the transaction closing. It does not present the acquisition as completed. Wipro will take control of the business and its associated assets, contracts and personnel upon closing.
