Anker has unveiled the SOLIX S5000, a portable home battery with 5,024 watt-hours of storage and an architecture the company says is intended to reduce energy losses during backup operation. The system is designed to provide up to 48 hours of emergency power, although the stated runtime will depend on the connected household load.
The product’s central efficiency claim comes from Anker’s OptiSave 2.0 architecture. Anker says the system reaches 96% conversion efficiency under a standard 1,000-watt load. Its internal electronics draw 8.8 watts in idle mode, a figure the company links to standby readiness of up to 21 days and to an approximately 20% increase in usable runtime during typical household outages.
Output covers 120- and 240-volt circuits
The SOLIX S5000 is built around an integrated inverter rated for 4,500 watts of continuous output and 8,000 watts peak output. The system can deliver power across both 120-volt and 240-volt circuits, allowing it to support higher-demand household equipment identified by Anker, including water pumps, heating systems and water heaters, in addition to ordinary home electronics.
An integrated transfer switch is specified to move a home to backup power in less than 10 milliseconds during a grid failure. That changeover specification is relevant to installations that include sensitive electronics, because Anker says the switching behavior is intended to help prevent connected devices from resetting. The battery can also provide 240-volt power while charging from a standard 120-volt outlet.
- Storage: 5,024 watt-hours
- Continuous inverter output: 4,500 watts
- Peak output: 8,000 watts
- Conversion efficiency: 96% under a standard 1,000-watt load
- Transfer switching: less than 10 milliseconds
Runtime certification and battery design
TÜV SÜD has awarded the system an A+ runtime rating, according to the announcement. Anker describes the SOLIX S5000 as the first 5-kilowatt-hour portable power station to receive that benchmark. The battery uses lithium iron phosphate technology, while the product’s low idle consumption and inverter architecture are presented as separate contributors to its usable runtime.
For custom integrators, the published specifications put the product in the category of residential backup equipment rather than a small device-charging station. Its combination of 120/240-volt operation, high continuous output and integrated transfer switching addresses household circuits and equipment that cannot be served by lower-output portable units. The announcement identifies the product as portable and details its emergency-power capabilities, but it does not publish an MSRP, dealer program or availability date.
